A fire risk assessment is necessary to ensure that fire related hazards are mitigated prior to the occupation of any building.

Under Part B of the Building Regulations Act 2010, buildings must provide adequate protection from fire. Fire call points, fire assembly points and fire proof doors are some of the elements that must be included in the design of a building.

Local authority building control departments are at hand to review proposals prior to issuing certificates of compliance.

Those that fail to receive a certificate run the risk of a fine, a prison sentence, or both.
